Support Polar Semiconductor Manufacturing, Engineering and Polar Semiconductor, Inc. customers through analysis of device failures by standard analytical procedures. Find root failure causes and initiate action to determine corrective measures if needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze device failures: Use analysis techniques such as electrical probing, microscopy, cross-sectioning, polishing, chemical deprocessing, and other methods to determine root cause of failure Operate diagnostic equipment: Focused Ion Beam (FIB), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer (EDS) Reporting: Write formal analysis reports that are distributed to internal and external customers Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment Write procedures for techniques and functions in the lab Support company initiatives, such as; quality, safety and environmental management, CQI, 5S, yield management, and cost containment Perform other duties as required

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Basic understanding of: IC processes, electrical circuits, and chemistry

Proficiency using personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite

Skills in visual examination, using deprocessing equipment, and operating diagnostic equipment

Skills in personal interfacing, verbal and written communications, and report writing

Typically requires Associates in Electronics or Equivalent

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

N/A

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to work in a lab environment (standing/sitting)

Occasional handling of hazardous chemicals and use of high voltage tools

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Corporate Orientation, Departmental orientation, Right-To-Know Annually, Annual EMS & Annual Hazardous Waste Management, ESD Awareness, and on-the-job training as applicable.

Marketing, Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, and Facilities.

EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Customers for distribution of analysis reports. Equipment vendors to evaluate future equipment and ordering supplies for existing equipment.
