Position Highlights The Accelerating Secure IT Services (ASITS) program is a comprehensive effort dedicated to reshaping and strengthening IT operations, security, and services across the University of Arizona. Working with our campus IT partners, we have engaged in a thorough assessment of current capabilities, needs, and gaps. The ASITS team will use this suite of robust data to increase alignment of the university's IT infrastructure and processes to establish clear pathways for collaboration. We are seeking to provide increased access to technology tools, support, procedures, and provide a continuity of operations.

The ASITS Program Manager is responsible for driving technical and security improvements across five major areas of IT: cloud computing, secure network, endpoint management, IT service management, and IAM practices. The Program Manager is responsible for coordinating deliverables, resource allocations, timelines, risk mitigations, communications, and reporting across project plans for each of the five areas of focus.

This is an Extended Temporary Position with an expected end date of June 30, 2025.

Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed within scope and on time, in a dynamic environment.
  • Drive the project delivery strategy through the consistent application of a project management framework, training, methodologies, metrics, assets, and tools.
  • Quickly gain strategic understanding of stakeholder needs, and business and technology objectives.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to project managers, service offering managers, data analysts, and engineers.
  • Direct supervision of two to three project managers and one to two data analysts.
  • Establish measures of success and inspire teams to exceed expectations.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and overcome program risks, and produce weekly program status reports for the team, UITS leadership and stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and persistently remove obstacles that slow down progress, escalate and mitigate risks/issues to multiple levels of management, including UITS executive leaders.

  • Highly analytical and organized.
  • Strong leadership skills: communication, planning, and negotiation.
  • Strong analysis, planning, organization, and consensus-building ability with effective resolution and relationship-management skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and commitment to achieving mission/program objectives.
  • Must be excellent in documenting work effort and project status on an ongoing basis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Extensive knowledge of Project Management systems such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8 years experience as a Project Manager or Program Manage; OR,
  • Equivalent combination of education and professional work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, PgMP certifications.
  • Experience building efficient project plans with interlinked dependencies and coaching a team on best practices and techniques for driving results.
