Summary of Job Duties:Schedule: Temporary Part-Time

Clinical Care Assistants (CCA's)are hired for a specific unit and are expected to foster professionalism and fulfill work commitments on unit of assignment.CCA's work under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse(s). The CCA works within the Nursing Service Line standards and adheres to UAMS Health, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.

Work hours require 8 hours a week; 16 hours every other weekend on Saturday and/or Sunday; or 32 hours a month as negotiated with the Clinical Services Manager (CSM); and a maximum of 1400 hours in a 12-month floating period. The applicant will select two (2) areas (if areas selected are filled, available areas will be provided); and attach cover letter with resume in one (1) attachment before application will be processed.

Salary: $15.00 per hour
Shift Differential: 20% E/N/P and 10% Weekends
Must Work One (1) Major Holiday: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas-Eve or New Year's Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a state-approved Nursing School.

  • Must have completed Basic Theory/Foundations Course, Skills Check-off and one (1) hospital clinical rotation in a state-approved Nursing Program by start date.

  • Must attend daily, M-F (8A-4:30P) mandatory orientation on designated start date to apply.

Preferred:

  • Preference will be given to in-state; BSN nursing schools, and/or students who participate in clinical rotations and/or work at UAMS.

Additional Qualifications:

If selected for hire, nursing student is to bring a copy of the nursing school transcript or grade report to validate current nursing school enrollment and completion of basic theory, skills checkoff and one (1) hospital clinical rotation by start date and sign the 'CCA Statement of Eligibility' during Week 1 of orientation.

CCAs hired in June and December are required to attend one (1) week of orientation starting on a designated Monday for 'New Employee Orientation' (morning session) and 'CCA Orientation' (afternoon session) and continuing daily classes, 8A-4:30P thru Friday. If CCA is a current U of A System employee, CCA must contact NurseRecruitment@uams.edu if desire to transfer to another unit and reapply as an Internal Candidate. CCAs must also complete all Human Resources 'New Hire' requirements prior to start date including the New Hire Medical Screening.

To foster professionalism, CCA's are hired for a specific unit and required to work every other weekend to equal a minimum of 8 hours/week, 16 hours/pay period or 32 hours/month unless otherwise authorized by the CSM.

CSM's are responsible for CCA scheduling. CCA's request for schedule changes must be made to the CSM prior to posting the two week schedule in the 'Kronos' scheduling system.

CCA's are expected to fulfill work commitments on unit of assignment prior to working on other units. CCA's will also be pulled according to unit policy.

Call-ins and cancellations are in accordance with Nursing Service Line policy (enter 'Employee Handbook' @ http://hr.uams.edu).

CCA's are expected to provide two weeks written notice for resignations. Failure to comply will be reflected on job references.

CCA's may reapply for a transfer after 6 months based on availability and required to notify NurseRecruitment@uams.edu prior to submitting an application as an Internal Candidate. CCA positions are posted at https://jobs.uams.edu - enter 'Clinical Care Assistant' in the 'search' key.

CCA's are encouraged to seek out learning opportunities and communicate needs with staff. However, since the CCA is an employee not working as a 'nursing student,' CCAs cannot perform any skill outside the CCA role.

CCA's will be evaluated at 90 days and participate in an annual review with CSM.

CCA's are expected to provide written proof, i.e., current Transcript or Grade Report, Registration or Formal Nursing Program Letter to validate active student enrollment to CSM within 30 days after the close of each semester.

CCA's who desire to take the LPN Boards are required to notify the CSM prior to the testing date. If an LPN license is obtained, CCA is required to meet with CSM to review/sign CCA/LPN Disclosure r/t CCA Job Description.

CCA positions expire on the last day of the month of graduation. If CCA accepts a new graduate LPN or RN Resident position, CCA may continue to work as a CCA until transfer but must complete a minimum of 32 hours/month.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

The tentative start dates for these positions is December 9th or December 16th (Dates have been revised).
