Job Description: The Medical Interpreter coordinates and delivers both verbal and written language interpretation for patient, families, and caregivers.Position Details: This PRN position will help cover night shifts the majority of the time. Position may also include graves, weekends, & holidays. There will be on-call requirements on the weekends. Job Essentials: 1. Successful completion of a pre-hire skills assessment. 2. Successful completion of a 40-hr. Professional Medical Interpreting Course. Note for candidates who do not meet the above-mentioned educational requirement: You may be considered if you meet one of the following qualifications (If hired, you will need to complete the 40-hr. course on your own within six months):
3. Excellent oral and written command of both source and target languages. 4. Ability to perform consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation with a high degree of accuracy in both languages. 5. Demonstrated proficiency of medical terminology in both languages. 6. Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high-pressure environment. Preferred Qualifications 1. Bachelor's Degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. 2. National Certification as a Medical Interpreter through either NBCMI or CCHI; Utah certification for Medical Language Interpreter through DOPL. 3. Experience as a professional medical interpreter. 4. Completion of medical terminology course.
