Overview Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Risk and Compliance Counsel, based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV) and consideration given for 100% remote US locations. The Risk & Compliance Counsel ("RCC") will join a team of ten staff attorneys for the firm and be responsible for managing potential risks to the firm posed by the onboarding of new clients, new matters for existing clients, and new personnel. The RCC's role will include effectively and efficiently analyzing and resolving potential ethical, contractual, and potential major business conflicts of interest posed by new business intake and lateral hiring. The RCC also will be responsible for researching and analyzing issues under applicable laws relating to the firm's ethical duties and advising on other compliance and risk management issues associated with firm operations, as needed. The RCC will be expected to have excellent analytical and communication skills as they manage a dynamic and often fast paced set of matters and issues. The RCC will report directly to the firm's New Business Deputy General Counsel and coordinate on a regular basis with the firm's Ethics Deputy General Counsel, as well as other members of the firm's Office of General Counsel ("OGC"). The RCC will collaborate with other RCCs and work closely with other members of the New Business & Conflicts Department ("NB&C"), including intake and lateral conflicts analysts. Responsibilities
Responsible for analyzing and addressing potential conflicts associated with new business intake and lateral hires to ensure such conflicts are accurately and efficiently mitigated pursuant to the applicable rules of professional conduct and firm policy.

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.
