Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Finance Business Intelligence Developer. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV) and consideration given for 100% remote US locations.



Responsibilities

As a Finance Business Intelligence Developer, your role will involve developing, organizing, and maintaining finance business interfaces including dashboards, data visualizations, regular and impromptu reports, and data querying tools. Your responsibilities will include:

    Develop ad-hoc financial reporting for various firm functional areas including but not limited to Finance, Business Development, Attorney Development, Human Resources, Business Units, Practice groups and Firm Leadership
  • Design and develop finance reports, applications and dashboards utilizing the MS Power Platform (Power BI, PowerApps, etc.), SSRS, MS SQL, ASP.Net, Excel VBA, C#, Python
  • Automated distribution of reporting through various industry and in-house tools and systems
  • Participation in the Month-End close process to include but not limited to financial system reconciliation, data verification and publication of reporting
  • Support and maintain in-house finance reporting software
  • Troubleshoot and/or improve existing reports and dashboards
  • Assist with application upgrade projects
  • Play an active role in UI and back-end testing
  • Provide support and training for Finance and firm staff on tools and systems developed for financial reporting
  • Contribute to the team's overall initiative to improve and streamline financial reporting through innovative thinking, introduction of new technologies, and team training exercises


Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
  • Experience with MS Power platform design ideologies, standards, and structure required
  • Power BI and PowerApps skills required
  • Expert knowledge of SSRS, MS SQL, stored procedures, and Excel VBA
  • Working knowledge of DAX calculations, queries, and formulas
  • Experience with Aderant Expert/CMS desirable but not required
  • Familiarity with data transfer principles and techniques
  • Expert knowledge of Excel queries, pivot tables
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced inter-personal skills; professional and customer-service oriented demeanor
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting/Finance, Computer Science, Business, Information Systems or related field is desired. Or equivalent work experience
  • Three or more years of related experience is required; prior experience working in a professional services environment is desirable
  • Previous law firm experience strongly desired

Preferred Skills include:

  • Knowledge of Aderant Expert CMS, Elite Enterprise, Elite 3E or other professional services firm financial applications is highly desirable
  • Marked ability to meet project requirements and deadlines and to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Source control software (MS Visual SourceSafe, SourceGear, DevOps)

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • California Major Markets* $88,000 to $144,000
  • New York City $88,000 to $144,000
  • National $80,000 to $120,000

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
