Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Digital Technology & Data Team. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV) and consideration given for 100% remote US locations.

The Business Transformation team drives operational improvement across the firm. This includes Business Development, HR, Finance, Pricing, Secretarial and Talent teams.

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of projects, set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress. The Project Manager will also prepare reports for upper management regarding the status of the project. They are expected to be literate in a variety of change disciplines and show real agility and pragmatism regarding effecting purposeful change. This role will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of lawyers and business professionals, driving efficiency, managing projects, and ensuring all departments work more effectively. The ideal candidate should have personal skills essential for navigating the complexities of change management, influencing and leading others to ensure the success of the project.

The Business Transformation team will collaborate with other areas of the firm, notably the Innovation team on legal service as needed.



Responsibilities

    Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk management, and communication strategies.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the projects with external vendors.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  • Manage project deliverables.
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, and report on progress to all stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by managing expectations and delivering high-quality results.
  • Assess and understand the impact of technology change and ensure that relevant supporting materials are produced.


Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience and Education:

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Formal project and/or change management qualifications are highly desirable: for example MSP, Agile or PMP.
  • Bachelor's or Master's preferable, or a related field / relevant industry experience. Or Equivalent experience.
  • Ability to execute projects using a variety of disciplines. As a minimum, through Waterfall and Agile methodology.
  • Experience of multiple project deliverables across the professional service sector.
  • Ability to understand business context and technology solutions.
  • Adaptable to work autonomously under pressure with minimal supervision or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • An ability to build rapport and strong working relationships with business stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a Project Manager or in a similar role, with a strong track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying project management principles within the service sector.
  • Hands-on experience working within a multi-disciplinary change management function, navigating complex organizational dynamics.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset, with a strong ability to think critically and analytically to identify solutions and drive results.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a talent for building and nurturing strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts effectively and create a positive, collaborative working environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing stakeholders and driving alignment on project goals and initiatives.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to remain effective under pressure and in the face of change.
  • Flexible approach to managing evolving priorities and unexpected challenges.
  • Creative thinker with an ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to adapt approaches as necessary to meet the unique needs of each project.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between:

  • California Major Markets* $88,000 - $118,000
  • New York City $93,000 - $118,000
  • National $83,000 - $108,000

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
