Quality Technician

Phoenix, Arizona - The position tests product batches and will make adjustments as necessary to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards. Tests incoming raw materials and maintains Certificates of Analysis (COA) from suppliers.

Essential Functions

* Performs standard tests on assigned product line production batches and on some incoming raw materials as needed, ensuring the meeting of Avient and the customer's specifications

* Act as a technical resource to production addressing issues related to production batches

* Recommends to production and may develop adjustments to batches to meet specifications

* Records test results in SAP. Maintains reference files

* Completes and maintains all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.

* Ensures all gauges and test equipment are verified

* May participate in investigations of complaints and corrective actions as needed

* Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulation. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards

* Completes and sends documentation to customers (i.e. COA)

* Other duties as assigned

Required Education, Length & Type of Experience:

* US High School diploma, GED equivalency or relevant experience

* One (1) year of Quality experience.

* One (1) year of Lab, Production, and Color Matching Experience

* One (1) year of Problem Solving Techniques

* Preferred Forklift Experience

* Quantitative and Conflict Resolution Skills

* Manual Dexterity

* Reading/Comprehension

* IT Security Education

* Microsoft Office

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Self-motivated with strong organization skills and ability to multi-task

* Time management skills

* Quantitative and statistical skills

* Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office products

* Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications

* Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance

* Must be able to effectively communicate one-on-one and in small group situations

* Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools, scales, hand trucks, fork lift, utility knife, and mixer/secondary machinery and computer equipment

* Demonstrate ability to rapidly learn the operation and set up of industrial machinery per operating procedures while following all training and plant procedures

  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
  • Be able to lift, push or pull up to 200 lbs. with the aid of equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Be able to stand/walk for 10-hour shift
  • Able to walk, see, and hear sufficiently to perform assigned tasks
  • Be able to communicate orally and in writing
  • The employee must be able to read at a level of comprehension sufficient to meet job requirements
