Your Role at Baxter:

The Sr Data Architect is responsible for leading architecture capabilities for the Data Governance Organization. This role includes creating, maintaining, and communicating conceptual and logical enterprise data models and data flow diagrams. The Sr Data Architect will have a deep understanding of the organization's Customer, Supplier, Product, Financial, and Employee master data, the data lifecycle of this content as it exists in ancillary applications and provide guidance on software and process modifications to improve controls and simplify master data management. This role will work closely with Data Analysts and Stewards to inventory, define, classify, and measure data quality of organizational data assets and partner with Business Owners and IT Leads to simplify and streamline the data environment.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Understand and document current end-to-end data flow diagrams of business subject areas and re-architect data ingestion processes into relevant applications
  • Collaborating with Data Integration Engineers and Business Owners to standardize B2B and B2C data exchange formats
  • Lead the development and implementation of data standards and best practices for data governance, data quality, and data management
  • Assist Data Governance Organization team members in the cataloging, defining, securing, and measuring of organizational data and information assets
  • Provide guidance on security, privacy, data management, and regulatory compliance around our data assets
  • Provide technical vision, leadership, and guidance to architects, analysts, and stewards on the team
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area
  • 10+ years of experience as a data professional
  • 5+ years working with multiple Database Management Software (SQLServer, Oracle, Snowflake, etc.)
  • 3+ years serving explicitly in a Data Architect or Data Modeler role
  • 3+ years using data modeling tools (ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, etc.)
  • 3+ years crafting conceptual, logical and physical data model
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level business function/capability and data modeling
  • Prior experience in a complex, highly integrated services environment
  • Prior experience with Master Data Management, Metadata Management, and/or canonical modeling
  • Familiarity with Industry Standard and Healthcare Standard data formats (ISO, ANSI X12, HL7, etc.)
  • Familiarity with services-based development and technologies (e.g. SOAP, XML, XSD, JSON)
  • Familiarity with NoSQL platforms
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Candidates need to work well in extended project teams with little oversight

This role is 100% remote.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $144,000 to $198,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
