General Purpose of Job: The Supervisor is responsible for site leadership, assisting the Practice Manager and/ or Director with the day-to-day operations of one or more practice sites. This includes but is not limited to, staffing/ scheduling, performance management, systems, patient flow, expense management, payroll and other functions required to maintain effective service-oriented practices. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned regularly. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Provides direct supervisory responsibilities for practice(s).
- In support of site providers and Practice Manager, determines staffing needs required. Selects, trains, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines site staff.
- Processes time records and all other Team Member records. Orients and oversees the continuing education of practice Team Members.
- Supports developing and implementing systems to ensure the practice's smooth, efficient, ongoing operations. Helps ensure that provider and patient needs are met.
- In conjunction with the Practice Manager and providers, regularly develops and monitors key performance indicators. Recommends action plans to correct any negative variances.
- Works with staff to improve operational processes and ensure that data input and collection procedures are appropriately followed.
- Serves as a resource for basic billing and revenue cycle questions and front-line balancing of end-of-day reports.
- Supports the Practice Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring quality assurance standards, department improvement activities, and patient satisfaction programs for the site.
- In collaboration with the Practice Manager, establish policies, procedures, and protocols necessary to accomplish daily tasks, processes, and long-range goals.
- Assists Practice Manager with Quality Program implementation, education, and maintenance.
- Assists the Practice Manager with activities of new providers and team members, orientations to practice and hospital departments, patient schedule, facility, equipment, and space needs.
- In conjunction with the hospital Risk Manager and Practice Manager, assist with following up and resolving all patient complaints.
- Communicates with the Practice Manager, providers, and staff regularly.
- Resolves conflicts as necessary.
- Monitors site ordering practices and invoices.
- Works with the Practice Manager and hospital departments to ensure continuity of service and patient care.
- Supports the development of educational materials and protocols for clinical practice.
- Facilitates positive communication and liaises between the practice site, health system, outside agencies, and community groups.
- Ensures that established policies, procedures, fire, safety, OSHA guidelines, and accrediting body regulations are updated and followed.
- Ensures accreditation standards and monthly audits are completed to maintain compliance with life and environment standards.
Job Requirements
Work Experience |
* Two years of progressively expanding experience in an ambulatory multiple-physician practice setting. |
Education |
* Associate degree in nursing, business, or healthcare administration OR High School Diploma and four years of experience in an ambulatory multiple-physician practice setting Preferred * Previous experience with physician practice budget and billing processes * State of Michigan RN license |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and strong attention to detail. * Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including practical interpersonal skills. * Ability to care for age-specific clients to meet their physical and safety needs, psychosocial concerns, and educational level. * Possesses strong working knowledge of all applicable policies and procedures with specific labor relations expertise |
