Certified Family Peer Support Specialist - Part-Time

Salary Range

This area has been designated as a Minnesota Health Professional Shortage Area (MHPSA). Employees who primarily work in an MHPSA will receive a 15% differential pay in addition to their base salary.

Level I

Base salary: $17.39 - $21.05

Base salary + MHPSA differential: $19.99 - $24.02

Level II

Base salary: $25.46 - $30.82

Base salary + MHPSA differential: $29.24 - $35.44

The expected compensation range for this position represents a good faith estimate for this position and the specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, experience, and/or FTE.

Position Summary

This position provides Family Peer support services within the Mental Health Crisis Services to clients 5 until 18 years of age through identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports, and resources to aid them in achieving those goals. This non-clinical position may also deal with supporting crisis calls and providing in-home family peer supports. Assist clients by helping break down barriers to community resources and provide encouragement for involvement in community activities that support their goals and interests.

Minimum Qualifications



  • High school diploma (or equivalent) or higher
  • Certified or plans to be certified by start date within Minnesota as a Family Peer Specialist.
  • Lived experience with a primary diagnosis of a mental illness.
  • Raised or raising a child with a mental illness.
  • Current or former user of mental health services.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Previous experience as a certified peer specialist.
  • Experience working with and/or delivering services to diverse populations.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records system.
