Job Description

EBAD seeks a critical thinking and skilled technician for the position of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Technician, reporting to the Production Supervisor. The position is located in Simsbury, CT. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Responsibilities:

The SMT Technician will execute a variety of SMT and assembly tasks in support of the Electronics PCBA Value Stream. SMT activities include operation of equipment associated with PCBA assembly. Assembly processes include inspection, hand soldering, rework and other assembly related tasks as required.

  • Operation of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Equipment including paste printer, pick and place, reflow ovens & AOI.
  • Assembly using hand soldering, component staking or manual conformal coating.
  • Inspection of Electronics per IPC and J-STD requirements.
  • Assist Process Engineering in development or refinement of SMT processes and procedures
  • Maintain accurate inventory and lot traceability of components and materials.
  • Setup and maintain work cells in accordance with 5S principles.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years SMT equipment operation experience
  • Knowledge of and ability to work to J-STD-001 class 3 requirements
  • Ability to work to procedures of little detail as well as follow procedures of strict detail
  • Must have a high school diploma

Desired skills:

  • Experience working in a development atmosphere
  • Current J-STD-001 Soldering Certification
  • Current IPC-A-610 Inspection Certification
  • Experience using X-ray, selective solder, conformal coating, and flying probe equipment.
