JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, assists the PI by performing in vivo and in vitro work in the field of neuroscience and related areas and set up required animal models required for various projects for funding acquisition and publications drive research projects as per the PI needs compiles, processes and analyzes data performs supervisory and training duties.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
In vivo rodent research in the areas of neuroscience, which involves maintenance of a genetically engineered mouse colony, behavioral testing, tissue dissection, provide study support in mouse and rat disease models ranging from basic injections to surgical procedures; anesthesia and euthanasia support; compound dosing for treatment studies. Independent development of new models. Liaise with the pharmaceutical sector to establish research contracts. Assist with research projects; performs independent research; plans, designs, and implements research projects; prepares and maintains culture, assist with technical aspects of studies and experiments including tissue processing biochemical analyses, proteomics, transcriptomics, DNA, RNA, an protein isolations q RT-PCR, immunoblot, processing, data analyses and management, and general lab management. Complies processes and analyzes data; records research procedures and results; files and maintains records; codes data for input for electronic data processing; inputs and retrieves data using computers. Sets-up and operates various scientific apparatus; sets-up and operates spectrophotometer, faction collectors, chromatography equipment, centrifuges, incubators, homogenizers, and various microscopes. Performs various clerical duties including typing, answering phones, preparing correspondence, preparing and maintaining bibliographies, and completing application forms. Train graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and any other member of the PI lab that needs training as directed by the PI. Performs other duties as assigned.
