Supervising Attorney The Supervising Attorney will lead legal operations at Roosevelt, overseeing a team of application assistants and administrative staff while managing direct representation cases. The role involves conducting legal consultations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing guidance to staff. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of immigration law experience, including litigation and trauma survivor representation, along with supervisory experience. Strong bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish preferred) and a commitment to serving diverse client populations are essential. Compensation & Benefits:
- Estimated Starting Salary Range for Supervising Attorney: $95K
- Pay commensurate with experience.

Varied schedule based on client needs Supervising Attorney Responsibilities Include:
- Lead the legal operations at Roosevelt, overseeing the overall legal strategy and execution.
- Supervise a team of five application assistants and one administrative staff member, including case staffing, reviewing work products, and managing direct representation cases.
- Conduct individualized legal consultations to assess work authorization eligibility for clients.
- Stay updated on relevant laws and policies by attending training sessions and conferences, as well as reviewing new regulations and court rules.
- Ensure compliance by monitoring application assistants to prevent unlawful practice of law.
- Collect, update, and review client reporting data to maintain accurate records.
- Make referrals to appropriate community partners to enhance client support.
- Participate in occasional outreach and community education initiatives, as well as other regional events.
- Perform other tasks as assigned or necessary to support the organization's mission.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Supervising Attorney Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Must be a member of the New York Bar and possess an active and good standing Bar License from any U.S. jurisdiction to comply with Supreme Court Rule 49.1.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience practicing immigration law, including litigation and removal defense, with a focus on representing trauma survivors.
- At least one (1) year of experience supervising attorneys, Accredited Representatives, legal assistants, paralegals, and/or legal interns.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be an empathetic communicator with a positive attitude, able to explain complex legal matters clearly to clients.
- Ability to understand and relate to the lives and challenges of clients, and comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including varying cultures, socio-economic statuses, seniors, and vulnerable populations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make efficient decisions and refer clients to appropriate resources.
- Excellent organizational skills, technical/database proficiency, and a keen attention to detail.
- Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Lead Counsel, Managing Attorney, or Legal Director.
