Job Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.The Emergency Department is a 73-bed unit that specializes in Emergency/Trauma Care. We are 1 of only 3, Level 1 Trauma Centers in Utah and have a large catchment area that serves not only the Salt Lake Valley and the state of Utah, but many other states in the Intermountain West. We are a very large and busy department, providing emergency care for ~90,000 patients per year. While our typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4, with the acuity that we see that ratio varies. There are times when you can expect to have 1:1, or even 2-3:1 ratios when caring for the more critical patients. We work alongside a very engaged group of Emergency Physicians that love to educate and collaborate in patient care. Critical Care Technicians (CCT's) work alongside the bedside nurses in caring for all the patients. In addition to typical CNA duties, they are trained on many additional procedures. One year of licensed RN experience required. Job Essentials Minimum Qualifications (Applicants must either have required additional certifications (e.g. ACLS, PALs, NRP) upon hire or must obtain them within a specified timeframe determined by service line and department guidelines.) RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date. Preferred Qualifications Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
