Description

FUNCTION:

In an assigned area or cell, work with limited supervision to perform the application of coatings to Production and Overhaul & Repair aircraft parts

TYPICAL DUTIES:



  • Applies coating materials to the Company's products according to specifications using spray, brush, dip, or other coating process.
  • Applies masking or other protective substance, removes excess, mixes and prepares coating material for application per data sheets and formulas.
  • Prepares parts for coating application by cleaning as specified in work instructions or customer data sheet.
  • Sets up and controls paint booth equipment to insure proper application and curing of coatings. Sets up and controls furnace temperature for coatings that require elevated cure temperatures. Documents cure cycle temperature and duration as required by the work instructions or customer data sheet. Performs loading/unloading of the furnace.
  • Cleans and maintains spray application equipment. Performs cleaning tasks associated with daily paint booth maintenance to ensure a FOD free environment.
  • Works with limited supervision
  • Maintains necessary records and files, including the paint logbook.
  • Assists operators in a lower classification on coating techniques as needed.
  • Work independently with salary and hourly support groups to address the most complex problems.
  • Must be able to meet OSHA requirements for respirator use, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Must possess a skill level that eliminates errors that cause nonconforming material and maintain a consistent level of high quality work. Identify non-conformances at time of occurrence. Recognize opportunities for non-conformances and notify management of need for action.
  • Actively participate in various aspects of Lean production and Continuous Improvement projects that drive efficiency improvements.
  • Must work safely at all times. Participate in safety improvement initiatives by raising any safety concerns and helping to come up with corrective actions.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department or cell objectives and to develop individuals' skills.
