Position Description


Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of the Pacific invites applications for an instructor of beginning Chinese, second semester, spring 2025. The chosen candidate is expected to be a dynamic person who can teach courses at all levels of Chinese language. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. Candidates must have current authorization to be employed in the US without employer sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MA in Chinese or related field

  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work is performed during standard hours; Additional hours may be required to meet business needs or deadlines.
Hiring Range $9,216- $9,616 (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.)
