The University of Virginia Police Division (UPD) is seeking applicants for a Victim/Witness Advocate. This position is responsible for serving as an advocate to victims and witnesses and assisting them in navigating through the criminal justice system. The Victim/Witness Advocate will use the Victim/Witness Assistance Program, which protects the rights of victims and witnesses of crime set forth in the Code of Virginia (* 19.2-11.01) crime victim and witness rights, as a guiding principle in this role. The ideal candidate will have experience and training in handling complaints related to religious intolerance and discrimination, including but not limited to antisemitism and islamophobia UPD takes pride in being a leader in community-based, progressive approaches toward law enforcement.
