ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a Facilities Manager to join our Operations Services team at our MCLB facility located in Albany, Georgia. The position is onsite.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for providing technical direction, project management, and assists in the management of the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facilities. The Facilities Manager works to deliver results related to EHS, project management, financial performance, plant reliability and efficiency, customer satisfaction, and employee training and development. This position requires demonstrated knowledge of project management planning and execution along with energy facility operations and maintenance and management methods necessary to control and improve facility performance. The Facilities Manager is on call 24 hours a day/7 days a week to assist in the supervision and handling of trouble-calls during off-hours.

The essential functions of the position include:



  • Develops, coordinates, and supervises overall plant maintenance plan, procedures, & provides technical direction on maintenance, maintenance scheduling, plant & equipment modifications, troubleshooting & data analysis on operational & functional problems within the plant. Ensures plans are in place and leads actions to improve performance and meet all site performance objectives and customer contract Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
  • On call 24 hours a day/7 days a week to assist in supervision and handling trouble-calls during off-hours
  • Supervises contracted operations personnel, maintenance contractors, and ESG employees in the performance of maintenance
  • Provide technical evaluation & detailed economic analysis of; a) Expense projects & subsequent recommendations; b) CHP System (life, repairs, & economics); c) Forecasting future production & maintenance costs (Operating Plan Development)
  • Supervises and directs daily Preventive Maintenance and Service activities of employees performing O&M at each facility
  • Ensure outstanding customer satisfaction. Builds and maintains positive relations with key customer management and staff employees to ensure the company maintains a positive image with our customers. Develops a comprehensive understanding and adherence to customer contracts
  • Specific responsibilities include managing multiple contractors to ensure that the plant is properly maintained, maintaining communications between contractors and management, commissioning of plant, and enforcing all applicable safety precautions and programs
  • Leads troubleshooting and root cause investigations for all major plant and equipment issues and ensures actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence
  • Analyzes engines, steam generators, and plant component systems for operational production, modifications, upgrades, performance, & process improvements in order to develop opportunities for optimizing and maximizing plant reliability
  • Ensures that the facility is operated and maintained in a cost-effective and safe condition in accordance with the approved budget and the customer's requirements to fulfill contractual obligations
  • Supports safety performance by ensuring all regulatory and company rules are adhered to, training employees, holding others accountable, reporting, and investigating incidents/ injuries, implementing programs to enhance the safety culture, and by personally observing safe work practices and adhering to all safety requirements

    • Enforces all Safety Requirements including, but not limited to: Perform Lockout/Tagout of all facility equipment and electrical switching of breakers
    • Work in confined spaces and perform confined space entry
    • Wear a respirator and/or Fall Protection when conditions require
    • Operate a man lift or scissor lift and Fork Lift safely
    • Use appropriate PPE at all times
    • Maintain a clean and orderly work area (cleaning non-office areas and maintaining cleanliness of all electrical rooms)


  • Establishes performance and behavioral expectations and then tracks employee performance to complete accurate and constructive performance appraisals in accordance with ESG's performance management system and policies
  • Responsible for employee and subcontractor scheduling including overtime authorization, staffing maintenance, day to day direction of employee activities and scheduling of all work activities
  • Manages facility projects including capital projects, major repairs, replacements of plant equipment, and continuous improvements
  • Serves as liaison between Energy Systems Group, the federal government, and subcontractors


Your background includes:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in a pertinent technical field from an accredited university or comparable industry training and licenses
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in the operations, maintenance, project management, and emergency repair of power generation, central steam and chiller plants and auxiliary equipment
  • Prior management or supervisory experience


A bonus to have:



  • Chief Power Engineer (NIULPE), or 1st Class Power (NIULPE), or Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Qualified as Engineering Officer of the Watch on board a US Navy ship
