Responsibilities

Peraton Mission Support team is actively seeking a Journeyman Electronic Technician to join the Eastern and Western Operations Communications System (EWOCS) program's team. The position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, on the beautiful Central Coast. The team delivers and maintains world class IT systems to a variety of DOD Customers.

This position requires practical application of technical knowledge and electronic principles for IT systems, ability to lead and mentor teams, determine malfunctions, and the skills to assess equipment performance in required operating conditions. As an Electronic Technician you will also be involved in acceptance and qualification testing of data transport and other communication systems.

Summary of Responsibilities:

    Responsible for preforming routine, and non-routine equipment maintenance.
  • Following and providing verbal and written instruction for executing complex assignments.
  • Maintenance and repair of analog and IP based camera systems as well as analysis of Access Control Systems (ACS) and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).
  • Maintenance and operation of Aural Visual warning systems such as public address, Klaxon, and light stack equipment.
  • Maintenance, repair, and replacement (when needed) of Telecommunication UPS's.
  • Basic understanding of the operation of a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and relay logic.
  • Use of approved documentation and safety principles while performing hazardous related duties at Launch sites.
  • Working on various types of electronic equipment and related devices by performing one or more of the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, constructing, or testing.
  • Fabrication of electronic assemblies and harnesses.
  • Assisting in the termination and testing of fiber optic cabling.
  • Participating in integration and check out of Launch systems during integration, testing, and field activities.
  • Use of electronic test equipment and related devices for installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, construction, and testing.
  • Review and supervision of work for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments.
  • Support completion of mission projects involving the transporting, assembly, checkout and launch of various rocket vehicle systems.
  • Performing flight preparation and checkout of all launch vehicle hardware and systems to meet flight readiness.
  • Performing safe launch vehicle and pad operations prior to and during countdowns under the direction of the Launch Pad supervisor.


Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • High School Diploma and 4 years of experience, or a BA/BS degree.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Comfortable working with working on elevated platforms and underground.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite to create and maintain documentation.
  • Good concept of industry safety practices.

Desired Experience:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Comfortable working with working on elevated platforms and underground.
  • Professional attitude and good communications skills to support Customer interfaces.

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
