Job Summary:

This position assists professional veterinary medical personnel in anesthetic procedures in support of the daily operational needs of UWVC. Veterinary Technician II (AN003)
Veterinary Technician III (AN004)
Veterinary Technician I (AN002)
Tasks:

  • Restrains and anesthetizes various species: dogs, cats, horses, cattle, birds and exotics, etc
  • Assists or initiates preparation/workup of patient undergoing anesthesia
  • Maintains accurate patient records and assists with service billing practices
  • Participates in the teaching and learning mission of UWVC
  • Assists with maintaining service equipment
  • Participate in rotating on-call shifts as needed
  • Provides optimal patient care utlizing technical skills and appropriate pain management techniques
  • Stocks and maintains adequate supplies in induction and storage areas of anesthesia service
  • Brings a helpful and positive attitude to the service

Qualifications:

This position is posted at Vet Tech levels 1, 2 and 3. Level is determined by qualifications based on type of prior veterinary tech experience.

To qualify for Level 1: Entry level, new CVT grad with minimal experience

To qualify for Level 2: Generally over 2 years of veterinary tech experience, may substitute years of experience for specialization.

To qualify for Level 3: Veterinary Tech Specialist (VTS), or highly qualified and specialized in a specific area, may have prior experience from another university hospital.

Work Schedule:

UW Veterinary Care Anesthesia department has multiple CVT openings! Shifts of 8-12 hrs/day generally available Monday-Friday 8am-6:30pm. Work only the hours required during your shift-no more working late! Approximately 2-4 on-call shifts for emergency cases required per month by the department.

Overtime plus night and weekend shift differentials for on-call hours worked. On-call pay of $2.25/hr as well as $50 lump sum payment for each emergency case while on-call. Will provide training based on level of experience. Great opportunity for CVT's interested in expanding their skills or pursuing a VTS in Anesthesia! Join us!

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $22.00 Maximum $32.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
Sign on bonus of 5% of base pay (based on FTE) to be paid quarterly over the first year of employment (Minimum of $1800+ for Veterinary Technicians)!


Additional Information:

Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks.
