Scientific Director

Job Summary

We seek a Scientific Director to bring expertise in experimental design and analysis for a diverse neuroscience research program. Under supervision from the principal investigator, the Scientific Director will be responsible for experimental design and consultation, manuscript and animal protocol preparation, developing coding pipelines to streamline data analysis, analyzing data, generating publication quality figures, and contributing to laboratory meetings. The individual will work remotely, with monthly or quarterly in person activities.

Essential Functions

50%

• Develop experimental designs.
• Prepare and submit research manuscripts.

40%

• Analyze data and generate publication quality figures.
• Generate data analysis pipelines using coding language.
• Employ statistical approaches to summarize experimental data.

10 %

• Animal protocol preparation.
• Attend lab meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Neuroscience, biomedical research or related fields
• A minimum of 1-year postdoctoral research.
• Experience with experimental design.
• Manuscript submission experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge in behavioral neuroscience research.
• Proficiency with developing analysis pipelines and statistical approaches.

Preferred Qualifications

• Past publication and grant funding record
• Experience with developing and maintaining databases
• Experience with animal protocol development
• Strong decision-making skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of relevant research approaches (e.g., behavioral, neurochemical, electrophysiological and molecular)

Additional Information

This is a Part time Per Diem position classified as Non Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
