Department OverviewMotorola Solutions' Mobile Video Department is a leading global provider of data and image analytics for vehicle location. The company's image capture and analysis platform, which includes fixed and mobile license plate reader cameras driven by machine learning and artificial intelligence, provides vehicle location data to public safety and commercial customers. Acquired in January 2019, this new product offering will expand the Motorola Solutions Command Center software portfolio with the largest shareable database of vehicle location information that can help shorten response times and improve the speed and accuracy of investigations. The Vehicle & Image Intelligence Group consists of prior law enforcement professionals whose combined experience consists of over 140 years. The group's experience is quite diverse with almost every aspect of the Law Enforcement profession being represented. The group is directly responsible for training and the continued development of not only new but existing users of Motorola's technologies. In addition to managing the structured training program, the group serves as subject matter experts in the fields of License Plate Recognition, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Image Comparison, Crime/Intelligence Analysis and other associated areas. The group has broad experience with law enforcement investigations and will support law enforcement agencies with investigative assistance during major cases. The group's mission is to support law enforcement through training and support utilizing their experience as prior law enforcement professionals.

Responsibilities of the Senior Technical Trainer include but are not limited to:

  • This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of the Vehicle & Image Intelligence Group, situated within Motorola's Mobile Video Department. This is a virtual location position (work from home), but the position will be assigned a geographical territory within the continental United States for which they will primarily be responsible for.

  • This position will be required to interact with law enforcement personnel by proactively scheduling onsite, virtual and webinar training. In addition to providing training, this position may be called upon to provide subject matter expertise prior to, during, or after deployment of technology (systems or software).

  • The Senior Technical Trainer will be responsible for developing training materials and content for presentations to audiences both inside and outside of Motorola.

  • This position may be required to testify in both local and federal court where they would provide expert testimony.

  • The focus of this position is supporting law enforcement with their efforts while proactively increasing the usage of Motorola's software through training and support.

  • This position requires 50-75% travel throughout the United States.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required (bachelor's degree preferred)

  • Minimum of 5 years of law enforcement experience (See specifics below)

  • Familiarity with industry best practices and standards of the criminal and investigative process

  • Ability to translate complex problems and concepts in training

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc.

Required Experience:

  • Law Enforcement Experience (Sworn or Non-Sworn).

  • Sworn Definition: Any armed law enforcement position held for a period of 5 or more years where the position granted the individual full peace officer status. Entry level examples of these positions would include but are not limited to: Police Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Special Agent, or other similar assignments. Law enforcement experience shall include the basic functions of an entry level field officer regarding search and seizure, laws of arrest, case law, general law enforcement practices, preparing evidence, utilizing investigatory databases, testifying in court and other related law enforcement functions.

  • Non-Sworn Definition: Any unarmed law enforcement position held for a period of 5 or more years where the position worked in an active role supporting law enforcement efforts while employed by a government agency. Examples of these efforts include but are not limited to: Crime/Intelligence Analysis, case preparation and investigative assistance, real time crime/tactical intelligence operations, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Pilot (UAS), or other related positions where the individual supported field operations.

Desired Experience:

  • Familiarity, exposure or experience with CompStat or other crime reduction strategy programs.

  • Practical Experience with License Plate Recognition technology such as Motorola Solutions' VehicleManager (formerly Vigilant).

  • Practical Experience with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or aerial drone technology such as Motorola Solutions' CAPE Drone Software.

  • Practical Experience with Image Comparison or Facial Recognition technology such as Motorola Solutions' ComparisonManager.

  • Prior teaching or instructor experience.

  • Possession of a United States Passport or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

  • Law Enforcement Instructor Certification or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.

  • Working Knowledge of business programs such as Google Slides, Sheets, Gmail and other G-Suite related tools. Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other related products.

  • Experience handling and processing evidence and/or testifying in court.

  • Experience with criminal incident geospatial and pattern analysis software programs.

  • Investigative experience is preferred but is not a requirement.

Note: Candidate can reside anywhere in the US.
