Position Summary

The Physical Therapy Motion Analysis Lab at Rosalind Franklin University has an opening for a full-time Research Assistant to support research projects in gait rehabilitation in people with cerebral palsy and fall prevention in older adults. The candidate will be working with Dr. Ying Fang to support ongoing studies and develop future projects, and receive mentorship as they progress on to the next stage of their career. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing research studies including recruitment, screening, and data collection (35%).
  • Generate data processing pipeline and analyze collected data (30%).
  • Develop novel rehabilitation interventions based on biofeedback systems or wearable sensors (25%).
  • Assist in writing conference abstracts and manuscripts (10%).

Required Education & Experience

  • BS or MS in engineering, biomechanics, rehabilitation science, or related field

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience with any of the following biomechanical assessment tools: ultrasound imaging, motion capture systems, force plates, split belt treadmill, IMU, and EMG.
  • Experience in any of the following software applications: MATLAB, Arduino, C++, Python, and OpenSim.
  • Excellent organizational skills and be willing to learn new skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with biomechanics research and human subject data collection procedures.
  • Experience in design and programming.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, research subjects, team members, and project collaborators.
  • Interest or experience in rehabilitation, motor function, balance, or neurological disabilities.
