The Office of Information Technology (
OIT) is Rutgers' enterprise IT office.
OIT provides university wide services and support and collaborates with department and unit IT professionals on projects and initiatives for the Rutgers community. OIT's services and systems include the Rutgers network; email and calendaring systems; IDs/passwords and identity management; data centers; computer labs; help desk support; wireless connectivity; a software portal; information security, risk, and compliance services; research computing; and many others. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an
ETL Developer for the Office of Information of Technology - Enterprise Application Services (
OIT-
EAS).
The position provides development and production support for the Business Intelligence infrastructure including data warehouses, data marts, data models, data services, views, and reports. The position is primarily focused within the Clinical Research environment working (
HIPAA compliant environment).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Responsible for analysis, planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance in support of University central and departmental standardized ETL and report processes, as well as, integration with both internal and external data partners.
- With minimal supervision, this position develops processes to assist in clinical research efforts.
- Involved with ingesting data from a variety of university data sources.
- Adapts and helps lead standard methodologies for ETL development.
- Working with the research leads and other technical teams, this position designs and develops ETL workflows to reshape the data into consumable formats for research and reporting needs.
- Acts as an Honest Broker within the Clinical & Research environment that keeps sets of confidential information but distributes parts of those set to other entities who should not have access to the entire set.
- Perform file management of sensitive data into and out of the CRDW environment with the approval of the Data Governance Committee. Maintain status of data inventory and file transfers.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree.
- Equivalent education, experience and/or training in system design and development may be substituted for the degree requirements or experience.
- A minimum of seven (7) years in an analytical and programming environment with emphasis on healthcare data for research, reporting and analytics or equivalent experience.

- Current experience using ETL Tools/software (for example only: Informatica, ODI, Data Quality and native PL/SQL).
- Proficient in SQL.
- Experience with Data Modeling in a Data Warehouse environment.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Current experience with Oracle and MS Sql Server databases.
- Experience with Perl or Shell Scripting, R, SAS is also desirable.
- Prefer proven experience with the EPIC data model and/or related experience with healthcare data.
EPIC Caboodle Developer Certifications preferred.- Customer service mindset, profession courtesy, respect and consistent positive communications to team members and clients is essential to delivering great work experiences.
- Experience with data modeling for research, reporting and analytics.
- Aptitude for leveraging big-data technologies.
- Ability to understand complex, integrated state of the art business intelligence and report data modeling.
- Ability to understand complex user authentication and data access authorization security models.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills and the ability to foster working relationships with users and peers.
- Excellent technical documentation, analytical and research skills.
- Skills to create and maintain ETL workflows/processes for a myriad of data sources including cloud sources, creating source to target specifications from client requirements and completing development of ETL processes using Oracle PL/SQL, Informatica, R, SAS or any other ETL tools.
- Knowledgeable in reporting tools, decision support systems, data modeling, data design and ETL processing, preferably experienced in EPIC data model and other Healthcare data.
- Experience with data mapping analysis and design.
- Familiar with Data Warehouse concepts and experience with Star Schema.
- Extensive knowledge of data structures, database solutions, and best practice data management principles.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
