Responsibilities

We are seeking a Director of Surgical Services. The Director of Surgical Services oversees the daily operations for the Department. Your duties in this career are to prepare the daily staff schedule, ensure that the pre-operative, post-operative, and surgical theater remain in sterile condition for all surgical procedures, and maintain the inventory of medical supplies and equipment. You work closely with other medical staff, including physicians, surgeons, nurses, and support staff. In addition to overseeing daily operations, you have significant administrative responsibilities, such as conducting performance reviews, hiring new staff, maintaining P/I activities and budgeting for the deparment. The Director manages the staff members in the Ambulatory Surgery, Surgery, Central Sterile and PACU Departments. The Director of Surgical Services consults with staff, physicians and CNO on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.



Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
2. Current BLS (AHA or ARC) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS (AHA or ARC) certificate within 30 days and maintain current.
4. Current PALS (AHA or ARC) certificate within 30 days and maintain current.
5. A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
6. At least two (2) years of experience in Surgical Nursing.
7. Current Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) (AORN) certificate(s) upon hire, preferred.
8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for all new hires after 1/11/2021.
