Job Title: Machine Operator Classification:Hourly Reports To: Production Supervisor Department: Paper Summary of Job Responsible for monitoring the operation of assigned converting machine(s) ensuring product adheres to company standard of safety, quality, and throughput. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Start up and shut down the machine properly, to ensure the production of the highest quality finished product Set up and operate the equipment for various products Safely and efficiently produce product on assigned production areaHousekeeping throughout assigned shift to ensure an orderly and safe environment.Physical and visual inspection of product is required to prevent non-conforming goods. Promptly reports all quality defects to the appropriate team members.Maintains appropriate level of production supplies/ materials as required, to ensure next shift operators incur minimal downtime.Continuously monitor machine operation to ensure accurate product measurements and quality are being maintained.Meets or exceeds production rates, minimize waste levels and meets all customer requirements.Sets up and adjusts rewinders.Neatly palletizes skids with finished product.Enters production reporting data into machine computer accurately.Separates scrap into appropriate film-type gaylord.Operates core cutting machine, vacuum lift, and pallet jack.Assist on or operate other converting or manufacturing equipment and perform preventative maintenance within the plant as assignedAcquires knowledge/ skills of Set-up Technicians to better assist and troubleshoot when needed.Support, demonstrate and promote Pregis' core values: integrity, collaboration, customer focus and innovation. Adheres to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations including all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements Attends meetings and completes safety trainings as required. Read a tape measure to 1/32" Must be able to communicate (read and write) in English Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture. Environment Exposure to moving equipment Inside work Heat may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit Humidity may exceed 80% Noise may exceed 85dB+ Physical Characteristics Repetitive use of wrist, hands, and fingers. Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75%. Frequent bending and some kneeling. Frequent use of shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles. Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 30-50 lbs.). Occasional bending and twisting. Occasional reaching. Occasional typing/keyboarding/preparing documents, voice- assisted as needed. Position Type Full time Shift work 8 hours Overtime expected per business demand Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required Minimum 1 year manufacturing preferred Compensation The pay range for this position is $18/hr. to $23.99/hr.
