Summary:

The Sanitation Supervisor provides support to the facility to comply with equipment, tool, and peripheral area cleanliness standards. This position is responsible for verifying sanitation activities/records and supports in creation of sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP's).

This position will be accountable for identification of productivity and cost savings initiatives within the sanitation program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for development, monitoring, and verification of master sanitation schedule (MSS) activities.
  • Responsible for development and supervision of the sanitation team.
  • Responsible for environmental monitoring program- tracking and trending of results, troubleshooting and escalation of risk mitigation.
  • Ability to lead plant stakeholders and assign tasks.
  • Develop SSOPs and train plant stakeholders in proper cleaning procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Identify chemical savings projects.
  • Review engineering design for future projects as they relate to sanitary design.
  • Communicates with plant Operations and FSQ teams when opportunity areas are noted in the facility or during sanitation activities.
  • Ensures that minimum downtime is experienced during sanitation and pre-operational inspections.
  • Complete sanitation related documentation following SunOpta Document Control and Record Policies.
  • Ability to communicate/escalate issues to management when documentation or execution does not meet acceptable standards.
  • Use of Intelex application to report program deviations/tracking and trending.
  • Adhere to GMP (good manufacturing practice) guidelines.
  • Routine housekeeping of assigned work area and adjacent areas.
  • Able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Maintain sanitation chemical list and SDS's and ensure approval process for new chemicals is followed before allowing a chemical into the facility.
  • Perform Sanitation Audits - document as required.
  • Monitor and document chemical inventories.
  • Oversee SSOP Validation activities and record keeping.
  • Primary Liaison with the 3rd Party Chemical Vendor.
  • Report Sanitation based KPIs.
  • Other duties and responsibilities. as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry experience preferred).
  • Quality / Technical and/or sanitation experience is a plus.



Knowledge and Skills:



  • Working knowledge of business math.
  • Ability to set priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as proven ability to assign and verify task completion.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work autonomously.
  • Exhibit and enforce Safety and Food Safety habits, serving as a role model for all employees.



Additional Considerations:



  • Travel Expectations: Minimal
  • Location: This position will be at the SunOpta Plant in Omak, WA.
  • Work Environment / Physical Demands: Employee must be able to stand for extended period of time. Over 50% of work will be performed in a manufacturing environment.
