Position Summary:

International Programs Manager serves as project manager on development, implementation and risk reduction for group study abroad programs offered by the Honors College and College of Nursing. Manages, promotes and advises on study abroad through the Hessen/Wisconsin Exchange (HWX) and manages study abroad through non-sponsored programs. Reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty & Academic Staff Affairs. Collaborates across units to ensure efficiencies in delivering services.

Responsibilities

Oversees the development and implementation of group programs abroad. Builds awareness & participation in, and personally advises on, independent travel study abroad through sponsored and non-sponsored programs. Ensures identification and application of appropriate risk strategies and compliance with regulations, policies and protocols. Directly responsible for all financial aspects of the office and office programs.



  • Advises students about international opportunities
  • Supports students and external partners through international experiences and cultural adjustment following policies, procedures, laws, and health and safety guidelines
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new international program initiatives
  • Works with unit, campus, and external partners on program development and improvement
  • Identifies, plans, and delivers international education programming
  • May supervise staff


Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated advanced intercultural knowledge and competence;
  • Experience supporting study abroad programs, international exchange, or similar experiences for U.S.-based students, employees, or volunteers;
  • Significant background in managing projects, Travel Risk Management, and compliance;
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage change;
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact and collaborate, face-to-face and in writing, with diverse groups of people, including non-native speakers of English;
  • Supervisory experience;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and advanced skills in MS Teams;
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.


Preferred:

  • Master's Degree
  • Ability to manage & customize a commercial Travel Management System, including workflow;
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management of international operations;
  • Experience negotiating, writing, implementing and maintaining international contracts.
  • Experience or knowledge living or working abroad;
  • Must possess a valid passport and meet travel requirements for international destinations associated with the role.
