Please feel free to contact Human Resources at 390-2544 with any questions. What it Means to be a Board Member The Duval County School Board consists of 7 members elected by their constituents. They are the official policy-making body for all education related issues for the Duval County Public School System. Salary Board Member salaries are governed by Florida Statute 1001.395. Below is the section of our Policy Handbook which addresses this issue. Current board member salary is $39,500 annually. SALARY OF SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS 2.24 As provided by section 1001.395, Florda Statutes, the annual salaries of the Board Members shall be determined or adjusted as provided by law. STATUTORY AUTHORITY: CHAPTER 145, 1001.41, F.S. LAW(S) IMPLEMENTED: CHAPTER 145, 1001.395, F.S. HISTORY: ADOPTED: MARCH 1, 2005 REVISION DATE(S): NOVEMBER 10, 2008; OCTOBER 5, 2010; NOVEMBER 1, 2011 FORMERLY: BDA Time Commitment Board Members attend: Regular monthly Board Meetings Workshops State and national conferences Visit schools throughout the District Various local civic functions Serve on Board subcommittees Serve in a quasi-judical capacity on such items as grievences, expulsions and employee discipline. Meetings and functions conducted by organizations throughout the City such as the Chamber of Commerce, Value Adjustment Board, District PTA, District Advisory Council, Joint Planning Commission, School Health Advisory Council, Florida School Board Association, National School Boards Associations, etc. Board Terms All terms are for 4 years.
