Summary: The Sawyer position operates saws, peels blocks, and loads productto the table and/or tote by performing the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sets up the work areaby installing and adjusting the saw blades, tables, scales, buckets, floor mats, and stands.
  • Cuts fish into portions to meet specifications.
  • Disassembles saw by removing and cleaning the blades at the end of the shift.
  • Emptiessaw dust from collection points as necessary.
  • Collects and stacks dirty buckets and floor mats.
  • Cleans work area according to company standards.
  • Reviews workspace for cleanliness and safety.
  • Peels and strips cardboard covering from frozen fish blocks.
  • Loads sawyer table w/ fish fillet or block to be portioned.
  • Weighs precut portions and loads in a cardboard tote.
  • Collectsand weighs byproducts and loads as appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

This is a non exempt position with an hourly rate of $20.00 to $30.25

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience operating band saws
  • A minimum of 6 months experience in the food industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to problem solve and troubleshoot various issues.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects

  • regularly up to 30 pounds

  • occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
