As a Lead Technician, you'll assist the Production Manager with production flow, support, and troubleshooting. For a portion of assigned working hours, will continue to perform hands-on technical work based on existing qualifications attained as a Technician and assumes responsibility for the satisfactory completion and quality of all job assignments.

What you'll do:

  • Assist Production Manager with production flow and work schedules.
  • Lead, assign work to and directs all work within the production cell. Review work in process and checks completed work to ensure quality and timely completion of job assignments.
  • Monitor and pro-actively address overtime, productivity, efficiency and barcode discipline of cell members.
  • Assist with and conduct daily stand-up meetings and attend daily business unit production meetings in absence of Production Manager.
  • Eliminates ordinary difficulties encountered in regular job assignments.
  • Demonstrates and encourages a team environment and works with team members to resolve conflicts.
  • Instructs other employees in the proper method and procedures of performing jobs when required.
  • Uses production systems to generate production routings, retrieve technical work instructions, document product condition, requisition material, report labor usage, and report product location and production status.
  • Generates measures of performance (MOP's) and assists with analysis and development of actions.
  • Provides support and guidance to production team and able to troubleshoot issues/problems.
  • Works with the Production Manager to determine cell training requirements, monitors progress to the plan and addresses any gaps. Assists with maintaining the cell skills matrix and iteration tracking.
  • Provides performance evaluation input to the Production Manager for team members within the assigned cell.
  • Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
  • Responsible for immediately reporting any flight/product safety concerns.
  • Participates in pro-active risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
  • Updates and reports out on cost of poor quality. Leads and participates in identification of root cause and corrective actions.
  • Activity promotes CI, monitors progress within the cell and assists where required to ensure goals are met.
  • Acts as the primary liaison with engineering and other production personnel as required to troubleshoot, research, and solve technical problems.
  • Coordinates and monitors cell preventive maintenance and calibration activities to ensure continued efficient operation of the cell and maintain compliance.
  • Ensures all applicable safety requirements are followed and address any unsafe practices/conditions immediately.
  • Updates and validates timesheets. Reviews timesheets for accuracy and trends.
  • Acts as back-up to the Production Manager.
  • Performs hands-on technical work based on existing qualifications attained as a Technician.


Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance in the applicable work area.
  • Highly proficient with in depth knowledge of products, processes and technical functions within the assigned production cell.
  • Ability to guide and train other levels of technicians.
  • Expertise with technical documents and manuals including, but not limited to company instructions, company processes, overhaul manuals, service bulletins and OEM manuals.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, instructions, blueprints and drawings.
  • Must be proficient in the use of tools, PME, and instruments necessary for the accomplishment of job duties.
  • Must have an understanding and working knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to use good judgment and make sound decisions.
  • Must possess leadership qualities to include demonstrated ability to cooperate and work well with others.
  • Must have ability to perform high quality of work in a reasonable length of time, lead and direct the work of others.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
