We have a terrific opportunity for a self-motivated experienced heavy truck mechanic at our shop facility in Bryan, Texas. To perform maintenance and repairs on several types of heavy diesel trucks and trailers to keep them in safe working condition. The fleet is consisting of ready-mix trucks, dump trucks, tractors, and pneumatic trucks/trailers.
Minimum Qualifications:

GED and/or equivalent combination of experience.
Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
A valid Class B CDL preferred.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Must be able to provide own basic hand tools, pneumatics, and some specialty tools.
Must be able to work flexible shifts which include days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience working on large trucks and trailers is preferred.
Experience in the mechanic field with maintaining road construction equipment with demonstrated mechanical knowledge to diagnose component, troubleshoot, repair, communicate and document.
Mechanical experience - Diesel Engine, Hydraulic and Power Train experience is preferred.
Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy equipment/vehicle components.
Must be able to work flexible shifts which include days, nights, weekends and overtime.
Must be able to work long hours outside in all seasons.
Strong troubleshooting skills
Must display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

Requires walking, bending, squatting, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
Heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Requires the use of hands for grasping and fine manipulations.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
Head movement/rotation moving head in any direction (up, down, side to side).
Requires climbing in and out of truck, on and off Equipment, multiple times a day.
Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) in accordance with company policy.
Exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
Exposure to in and outside working conditions; to cold or hot temperatures.
Working in high traffic shop environment.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for performing maintenance and repairs of a significant nature on all types of equipment and/or assisting with
repairs/improvements/maintenance of equipment to assure it is in safe working condition.
2. Safely operate equipment, standard and specialty tools, welders, hoists and other lifting devices, etc. on a daily basis.
3. Troubleshooting equipment maintenance problems to properly diagnose components to determine method and extent of repair necessary. Read, interpret, analyze and apply information in technical manuals and schematics.
4. Anticipate needed parts and supplies, disassemble equipment and parts, fabricate parts when needed and reassemble equipment
and parts.
5. Use cutting torch and perform welding tasks.
6. Clean work areas.
7. Fill out shop repair orders daily.
8. Must be able to perform Oil changes, Air/hydraulic breaks, Suspensions, Transmissions & General Maintenance.
9. Drive and maintain mechanic's truck.
10. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, and written). Frequent contact and communication with others within and outside the
company. Self-motivated, team-player with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work independently or in a team setting; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
11. Communicate with Drivers regarding "Vehicle Condition Reports" and make appropriate repairs .
12. Proven experience handling multiple projects and priorities while maintaining tight deadlines; highly organized with attention to detail.
13. Accurately complete work orders or other maintenance repair documentation.
14. Ensure OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
15. May be required to operate and maintain company vehicle to perform
16. Responsible to provide own basic hand tools, pneumatics and some specialty tools.
17. Must be flexible as to work hours and may be required to work weekends.
18. Timely and regular attendance is essential.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.
