Supervisor, Interventional Imaging Services

Supervises the daily activities of all staff in catheterization, electrophysiology (EP), and/or interventional radiology. Ensures the provision of cohesive, efficient, and high quality patient care.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensures cohesive patient care delivery providing day to day work direction to assigned staff. Collaborates with department and/or facility leadership in the daily management of the diagnostic areas.
  • Maintains the staff schedule and case coverage in order to provide quality patient care. Coordinates procedures and staff scheduling in lab areas to place cross-trained staff as needed.
  • Ensures areas of responsibility meet productivity, budgetary, employee engagement and patient outcome targets and standards by working with department leadership to monitor and adjust plans as needed.
  • Evaluates the quality of patient care provided by all staff through direct observation, adherence to policies, procedures, and standards of practice, and through peer input. Develops quality assurance measures as needed.
  • Develops recommendations for patient care improvements and efficiencies. Collaborates with Medical Staff to determine practice preference and potential barriers.
  • Collaborates with educators in providing and maintaining a quality orientation program for employees within the department.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and responsible for operating within that budget. May be responsible for the inventory, purchasing, charging and revenue cycle functions.
  • Provides input into establishing protocol for new procedures and equipment.
  • Collaborates effectively with leadership and/or committees/work teams in developing and enhancing the following: new programs and services, site projects, standardized competencies, policies and procedures and other issues.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale. Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registration (RCIS) issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or
  • Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification issued by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), or
  • Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) certification issued by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), or
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providerscertification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.

Education Required:

  • Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, or
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing, or
  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in catheterization, EP or interventional radiology within a large, high volume environment that includes advanced training in cardiovascular anatomy, ECG, basic cardiac life support, and/or special vascular angiographic procedures, both diagnostic and interventional.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and staff.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
