Industrial Coatings Senior Support Chemist

PPG is looking for an Industrial Coatings Senior Support Chemist for its Liquid Industrial Coatings Technical Department. This role entails a number of responsibilities to include proving both product technical and operational support. This will encompass formula design, preparation and application of coatings, and testing these coatings against a wide range of regional specifications and customers.

This role will work onsite at our Oak Creek, WI facility and report to the Supervisor of Customer & Manufacturing Response Technical Team

Responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct experimental work such as the formulation, application and testing of coatings.
• Recognize synergy between diverse technical areas and promote cross-fertilization of technologies.
• Work in conjunction with Manufacturing and/or other functions to facilitate new products from the laboratory into production.
• Work closely with manufacturing to troubleshoot and/or correct problem batches
• Actively reformulate existing products to meet cost reduction and/or property enhancement goals
• Work closely with supply chain to address and mitigate the impacts of raw material displacements on PPG's products
• Active support of technical issues with PPG products by our customers
• Executing performance testing of PPG products, as required by our customers
• Maintain and grow an understanding of industrial coatings, leveraging that knowledge in technical and manufacturing support.
• Maintain and communicate results through written and verbal summaries, coatings reports, test drill presentations and gate review updates.
• Work safely, following all lab procedures and contribute to the maintenance of high safety standards

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required.
• Seven (7) or more years of professional experience required.
• Previous professional experience in coatings preferred.
• Previous color matching experience preferred.
