I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Oversees and coordinates daily activity including the delegation of special assignments. Develops and revises staff schedules with Manager. Updates policies and procedures as needed and maintains payroll records.

2. Maintains all records pertaining to patient and item transport activity as reflected in EPIC Transport Command Center software and any manual dispatch logs. Assists in total system administration of EPIC to include such duties as daily monitoring of the EPIC Command Center activity, running reports and tracking staff productivity. Contacts and assists UMMMC and EPIC support to resolve problems that are beyond own expertise to resolve.

3. Assists manager in the biannual cleaning and maintenance of transport equipment. Ensure continuous "sweeping" of equipment throughout main corridors is maintained on all shifts. Provides assistance in managing content of UMMMCs Bed parks; ensures broken equipment is fixed and area is in order.

4. Assist manager in the instruction of staff in annual regulatory education, new employee orientation and review of procedure revisions/additions.

5. Recommend any needs for next fiscal year to director. Manage staffing activities to assure financial goals are met.

II. Position Qualifications:

1. Associate's degree or equivalent.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

1. Minimum of 3 years of transport services and dispatch experience.

2. Familiarity with CADS - Computer Assisted Dispatch Systems.

3. Demonstrated leadership potential.

4. Must have proven interpersonal skills, as well as solid oral and written communication skills, to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.

5. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

6. Requires proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Preferred:

1. Prior supervisory experience.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
