About This Role:

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Nurse I, II, or III to join our dedicated Urgent Care team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service. This position assists in the performing of technical work and provides support in the treatment of patients. Other responsibilities include planning daily patient schedules, training new students and staff on specific tasks, and collaborating with colleagues to meet patient care standards. Working hours for this position will include Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm, with participation in the on-call schedule.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • For a Veterinary Nurse I: Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
  • For a Veterinary Nurse II: Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and two years of relevant experience.
  • For a Veterinary Nurse III: Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and five years of relevant experience as a veterinary technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) after passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts, animal behavior and animal husbandry.
  • Knowledge of nursing care, service flow, and section requirements.
  • Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment.
  • Ability to adhere to appropriate safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in high intensity environment.
  • Skilled in time management and prioritizing daily tasks.
  • Skilled in interpersonal communication, written and oral.
  • Skilled in basic computer skills.
  • Be willing to master new techniques.
