Brief Summary of Work for this Position

  • Coding: Working knowledge of programming skills and experience with programming languages related to system administration and data science (e.g., SQL, HTML, Java).

    • Assist in customizing the InfoEd platform
    • Work with the ERAM to develop custom widgets




  • Website construction: Ability to construct and maintain a SharePoint website that is all encompassing to the research platform (InfoEd) used at UNCW.

    • At the direction of the Electronic Research Administrator (Manager?) develop a SharePoint website that will act as the central hub for all InfoEd information.
    • Assist in the development of training aids/tutorials
    • Assist in the authoring of SOPs and construction of process visualizations.



  • Dashboard Construction: Aide in the construction of a dashboard for real time data uploads from InfoEd.
    • Construct visualizations that are able to be manipulated and support the reporting needs of all stakeholders.


  • Departmental Support: Assist the ERAM in providing support for InfoEd across UNCW.

    • Reporting
    • Troubleshooting



  • Coverage in the absence of the ERAM: In the absence of the ERAM, cover down on all tickets and request to ensure that the system continues to function properly.
    • Maintain communications and support with all ongoing and new requests


  • Data Cleaning: Assist in Data Cleaning within InfoEd to ensure the continued improved accuracy of reporting.

  • AI Integration: Working alongside the ERAM, develop ways to implement AI that assist in reduction of manual processes to increase efficiency.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
BS - Computer Science, Programming or comparable work experience.
Minimum of 2 years work experience
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Skills to maintain, configure, and reliably operate computer systems and databases.
  • Knowledge of basic programming skills and experience with programming languages related to system administration and data science (e.g., SQL, HTML, Java, API Interactions).
  • Data analysis and visualization skills.
  • A rigorous data-driven problem-solving approach to thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively, collaboratively, and diplomatically with many diverse individuals.
  • Time management skills.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, R) and data frameworks.
  • Experience applying system administration and analysis to research administration.
  • Experience in data mining, and a working knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and operations research.
  • Master's degree (Computer Science, programming, or equivalent).
  • Working understanding of a centralized research administration.
  • Familiarity with InfoEd (or similar Research Administration Platforms)
  • The ability to solve complex problems creatively at a high level
  • Understanding of AI
