The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), is seeking part-time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjutant) for the Spring 2025 semester to teach an introductory environmental and geological sciences course entitled "Environmental Geology". The successful candidate may use existing course materials and syllabi provided by the department, although modifications emphasizing the candidate's expertise are not discouraged. The successful candidate will cover the full range of duties associated with teaching, including, but not limited to, preparing course material; creating and posting a course syllabus; presenting material during the assigned course times; holding office hours and providing appropriate out-of-class time for students; responding to student e-mails; conducting and grading assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means, in a timely manner; and submitting final grades. Course appointments may require instruction during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, off-campus, online, hybrid, remotely, or any combination of these. For Spring 2025, the course is scheduled to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 11:20 am on the Rutgers University-Newark campus.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in geological sciences or other closely related area required. Master's degree, Ph.D., or other terminal degree strongly preferred
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must. Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level is highly desired.
