Yoh is hiring for Research Vet Techs
for our San Diego CRO client. You will providing veterinary medical support to scientists currently working on the diabetes research project. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and policies and procedures. Responsible for performing animal care duties according to established procedures including evaluating and monitoring animal health, reporting abnormal conditions, monitoring animals during anesthetic procedures, and providing clinical treatments as directed by a veterinarian or the investigator.

Pay Range $24-$28/hr
Location - Sorrento Valley


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist researchers in the performance of minor or complex surgical procedures by monitoring anesthesia and animal vitals prior to, during, and after surgery or complex procedures.
  • Assist researchers and veterinarians in complex surgical procedures as needed by providing hands-on techniques.
  • Apply emergency medical knowledge as necessary while prioritizing data gain and minimizing animal loss.
  • Assist researchers with all surgical suite equipment including X-rays, EKGs, Ultrasounds, etc.
  • Provide the highest quality veterinary care and services for research Swine with diabetes.
  • May assist with veterinary care for other species on an as needed basis.
  • Routine Port Maintenance in ported animals as needed.
  • Daily blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration as needed.
  • Provide treatment plans to animal care technicians by following SOPs and approved Protocols.
  • Recover or euthanize animals according to established procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with GLP, USDA, AAAALAC, AWA and OSHA regulations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record keeping.

  • Maintain procedure room cleanliness and organization.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with clients and staff from a multinational team of scientists and coworkers.
  • Perform husbandry tasks according to established procedures when needed.
  • Must be able to adapt and learn new skills with the addition of new species, new procedures, and added responsibilities.
  • Weekend rotation and some holiday work required.
  • Additional job responsibilities may be assigned by management as needed.



Education and Experience:
  • AA or equivalent experience in Animal Science, Biology, Veterinary Technology, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred; ALAT certification desirable.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in veterinary medicine with technical skills in blood collection, injection administration, and proper restraining techniques required.



Estimated Min Rate: $24.00/hr
Estimated Max Rate: $28.00/hr
