Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Psychologist.

In this role, the successful candidate The Psychologist will primarily provide clinical interventions in the Health Services Research and Development and Mental Health Service at the New York Harbor Healthcare System for a project aiming to improve the quality and outcomes of care to high risk Veterans in the VA healthcare system The Psychologist will also provide guidance to research assistants and volunteer research staff and support the Principal Investigator PI in the design and conduct of research studies and serve as the liaison with other institutions involved in the project

Job Responsibilities:

Provides mindfulness based cognitive therapy clinical intervention to the project participants

Screening potential participants entering the project and ongoing clinical assessment of participants in the project

Develops and implements clinical protocols for the provision of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Suicide using evidence based theoretical frameworks

Provide consultation for challenges with developing with delivering the intervention and training programs

Identify the need for new course and program components; and/or design coordinate and present training courses Provides consultation and advice in the development of appropriate teaching methodology and instructional materials

Evaluates agency and/or State staff progress and training/ development needs and develops revises or coordinates instructional materials based on advances in scientific knowledge methods and techniques

Develops new training products and modifies existing products based on results of training needs assessments conducted

Identify scientific training needs as well as planning coordinating and participating in the development production and evaluation of training products appropriate for use in training courses

Advises PI and provides assistance with projects guidance direction and training to both the VA and voluntary research staff nbsp;

Conducting analysis of issues of exception importance to the project Issues of exceptional importance include ensuring research is relevant and safe to the patient population identifying future funding sources and aligning research goals with the projects values and goals

Develops and coordinates the sharing of health related educational informational materials and research related protocols IRB documentation and patient information materials

Provides expert scientific and operations guidance for the implementation of the MBCT S program The incumbent is responsible for planning projects and analyses that will improve healthcare for high risk Veterans

Works with Principal Investigator to design implements and/or participate in scientific studies surveys investigations or projects to develop information in such areas as causes and methods of suicide risk prevention and treatment Using established scientific and technical methods and practices identifies and evaluates a wide range of conventional health related conditions in a specialty area

Provides assistance in the development of grants cooperative agreements memorandum of understanding or other mechanisms for joint endeavors between federal state local or private sector health entities

Provides scientific and/or technical advice and assistance in the development of criteria and standards for the planning implementation and evaluation of grants and coop agreements including study personnel needs and budgets

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a PhD or PsyD degree in clinical counseling psychology or related field required NYS Psychologist License required Knowledge in DSM IV/DSM V diagnoses is required Prior experience in assessment and diagnosis is required Excellent written and oral communication skills Must be highly organized detail oriented and reliable Must meet NYU criteria for psychology core privileges Documentation of additional specialty education/training is required for non core clinical privileges e g biofeedback neuropsychological testing.

Required Licenses: Psychologist

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with veterans is preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $79,350.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
