STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Transportation Planning Intern to join our Transportation Planning team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months and can work full-time. **Must live in Los Angeles region during the summer.** Responsibilities:
  • Support the collection of project-related data, which may involve conducting desktop research and assisting in local outreach and coordination with government agencies and clients.
  • Organize and manage databases to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of project information.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to conduct various analyses and data collection tasks.
  • Prepare maps using GIS software, including constraint, location, and vicinity maps, to visually represent project data.
  • Assist in preparing environmental documentation, such as environmental screenings, alternative analyses, technical reports, Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements.
  • Review local and regional plans to ensure compliance and consistency with project requirements.
  • Conduct field visits and other research activities to validate desktop surveys, compile data, and evaluate the potential impacts of transportation projects on the human and natural environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers to evaluate conceptual and preliminary designs in relation to environmental and community impacts.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to bolster project goals and team objectives.
Required:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in City/Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • General understanding of environmental planning (NEPA) as it relates to transportation projects.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Proficiency in using GIS for data collection and map preparation.
  • Strong research skills, including desktop research and field surveys.
  • Ability to organize and manage databases.
  • Familiarity with reviewing local and regional plans for compliance and consistency.

Compensation Range:

$44,767.00 - $59,689.00
