Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a Mechanical Packaging Manager. In this role, you will lead a diverse team, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly while also spearheading innovative projects that enhance our service offerings and customer satisfaction. Utilizing key PBM (Principled Based Management) concepts, you will create a positive work environment and foster a culture of economic thinking, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Location: This is a remote role with approximately 50% field travel, supporting our Corrugated facilities in the southeast region.

What You Will Do:
* Project Management: Schedule and manage rebuilds, conversions, and upgrades, while working closely with fabricators to ensure components are constructed to the highest standards.
* Team Development: Conduct performance evaluations, approve payroll, and continuously seek opportunities to develop and motivate your team.
* Inventory and Material Management: Oversee MP2 operations including approving requisitions, monitoring cycle counts, and conducting job box counts at customer locations to maintain optimal inventory levels.
* Field Service Leadership: Work closely with field technicians to schedule account coverage and provide direct support to resolve customer issues. This will involve traveling to various customer sites and GP facilities, collaborating with sales, quality managers, and the engineering group.
* Glue Sales Program Oversight: Partner with the sales team to set competitive pricing, conduct glue trials, and establish agreements that enhance value for our customers. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
* Quality and Compliance Assurance: Identify and address quality issues at customer locations, ensuring that all equipment and operations meet GP's compliance standards. Collaborate with EHS managers to uphold safety standards.
* Strategic Project Initiatives: Engage with machine manufacturers to obtain quotes for equipment and manage in-house and external rebuilds. Work with customers to choose equipment that best fits their needs and manage project approvals through ECOSYS.
* PBM Implementation: Utilize key PBM concepts to provide management with insights and opportunities to create value through increased revenue or reduced costs. Foster a positive work environment by embedding PBM philosophy in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
* Safety Culture Enhancement: Improve the safety culture by identifying, investigating, and eliminating risks. Ensure the team abides by all safety and compliance rules.
* Performance Monitoring: Ensure our mechanics maintain the GP and customer equipment to perform at its highest level by monitoring performance throughout the season.
* Task Assignment and Supervision: Assign and supervise specific work tasks at customer locations and in-house, ensuring compliance with GP's overall guidelines.
* Inspiration and Encouragement: Inspire and encourage employees to perform their best, come up with ideas to improve productivity, and recruit and retain top talent.
* Resource Allocation and Reporting: Allocate resources as needed and report issues and performance to management regularly.
* Commercial Excellence: Act as a liaison between local sales, national accounts, and plants, coordinating Mechanical Packaging activities and identifying key cost-saving ideas.

Basic Qualifications:

* Experience troubleshooting mechanical issues in a packaging or industrial environment.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Ability to travel frequently (50% of the time) and provide hands-on support at various locations.
* Experience managing inventory and operational processes.
* Upholding compliance and safety standards in a team environment.

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
* Leadership experience within a packaging industry.
* Demonstrated success in managing large-scale projects and cross-functional teams.
* Building relationships with industry suppliers and vendors.
* Proficient in using ECOSYS and other project management tools.
