Grade Level 17 Position Summary
The Reliability Policy Manager serves as the subject matter expert in power systems engineering and planning, generation performance, system protection and metering, and all reliability and engineering aspects of the ERCOT stakeholder process. They are a key member of the team that is responsible for monitoring, participating, communicating, reporting, and contributing to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) stakeholder process on behalf of CPS Energy and advocating for CPS Energy's interests and positions. Under the guidance of the Manager of Energy Market Policy, provide leadership within CPS Energy by collaborating across business units to develop policy direction on reliability and engineering issues. Contributes to the development of protocol and regulatory comments, and legislative bill analysis. Acts as an ERCOT reliability and engineering subject matter expert on internal project teams. Minimum Skills Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Safe driving record.
Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals.
General understanding of ERCOT stakeholder and PUCT processes, knowledge of ERCOT Protocols, PUCT substantive rules, and PURA.
Extensive knowledge of ERCOT transmission planning practices and methodologies, generation performance and compliance requirements, system protection and metering requirements, and generator & large load interconnection requirements.
Extensive knowledge of engineering practices and policies for inverter-based generators, large loads, and energy storage interconnected at transmission and distribution voltages.
General knowledge of policies and standards set by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the North American Reliability Corporation (NERC).
General knowledge of resource adequacy concepts and risks as they relate to the ERCOT market, PUC market design efforts, and the general energy transition related to power supply decarbonization.
Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communications skills for interaction within the section, across departmental lines to all levels of personnel, and vertically with management. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science or related quantitative discipline from an accredited college or university. Required Certifications Working Environment
Work is performed indoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings in San Antonio and Austin, training sessions or other business related events. Physical Demands
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Operation of a motor vehicle to attend business related events.
