Acting as a Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME), this candidate will possess a deep understanding of payment systems, including Fedwire, ACH, RTP, and Zelle, as well as ISO 20022 standards. The role will involve significant participation in testing new payment solutions, collaborating closely with Quality Assurance and other SME teams to drive discussions about quality and the overall success of our payment operations. This position requires strong collaboration with cross-organizational teams, including operations, product experts, business leadership, project management, IT partners, and vendors, to optimize our payment solutions and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. A strong understanding of payment data and the technical skills to query, report and build dashboards through SQL and PowerBI is a big plus for this role.

What we are looking for:

  • You will facilitate meetings aimed at achieving desired outcomes and work both collaboratively and independently to ensure the success of our payment initiatives. Attention to detail is crucial, as you will challenge assumptions and drive results.
  • You will support the project throughout its development and testing phases, leading testing efforts alongside SME business experts and project teams.
  • Your role will involve ensuring that all team members understand project objectives, and when testing results do not meet expectations, you will help facilitate discussions on necessary changes and their priorities.
  • You will also engage in troubleshooting discussions to address issues and challenges related to payment processing. Regularly, you will prepare summary communications to update stakeholders on project status.
  • You will contribute to larger-scale payment projects by managing a work stream in a similar manner and participate in process improvement initiatives, driving smaller-scale automation projects in collaboration with IT leads.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in payment software and a solid understanding of various clearing methods, including Fedwire, ACH, RTP, and Zelle, along with ISO 20022 standards. An understanding of how to query data and manage data-driven insights is considered a significant advantage leveraging SQL and PowerBI.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 + years of experience in payment analysis, data analytics, or financial operations, with a focus on payment systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of payment systems and processes, such as ACH, Wires, SWIFT, RTP.
  • Experience with ISO 20022 format and other payment data standards is a definite plus.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including experience with data visualization tools and techniques to derive insights from payment data.

  • Experience in documenting and analyzing workflows, processes, and functional designs to optimize payment operations.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to manage timelines, tasks, and testing/implementation efforts.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting data-driven insights and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and analytical mindset with a focus on continuous learning and adaptation in the payments and data analytics landscape.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, align stakeholders to shared objectives, and drive projects forward despite challenges.
  • Ownership mentality where you take charge of changes as if they were for your own business and continuously look for ways to improve the end product.
