DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Worker 1, you will be performing routine work in the preparation of meals and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas at the Southwestern Veterans' Center. Work includes cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items. Additional duties will include preparing trays, measuring portions, serving food, and transporting trays, carts and nourishment. You will also use equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, grinders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week, rotating holidays and weekends
  • 8 hour work day with 30 minute lunch. Shifts available include 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • No previous experience and training required.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Food service experience

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
