Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $85,000 - $92,000/yr. The full salary range for this position is $69,500 - $123,500/yr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University.

Brief Summary of Job Duties: The Senior Development Analyst, Central Development ("Analyst") serves as a key central development staff member for the Office of Development providing essential support that is critical to the successful operation of a complex fundraising program that raises $120M+ annually. Reporting to the AVC or designee, the Analyst provides analytical leadership to support short- and long-term strategic planning and fundraising reporting; as well as project management, research, and analysis in support of annual fundraising goals and a wide variety of department fundraising initiatives, including comprehensive campaigns. The Analyst develops and creates reports, analytical tools, and other business intelligence solutions to provide information and insight to development staff and leadership. Designs and prepares materials and reports that analyze the activities, progress, and goals of fundraising and other Development-related projects, presenting the information to a wide variety of audiences including the Chancellor, campus and division-wide senior management, and the UC Santa Barbara Foundation Board of Trustees. Responsible for weekly reporting on fundraising projected dollars goals and gift tracking, and regular reporting on fundraising statistics to leadership staff. Coordinates closely with Institutional Advancement staff to target analysis and reporting, and supports Gifts Administration and Advancement Services on monthly, quarterly and yearly closure procedures and reports. Works closely with Senior Directors/Area Managers on annual fundraising goal-setting and program planning. Provides guidance for all Development staff on fundraising (including initiatives and campaigns) reporting standards, and ensures the consistency, timeliness, and accuracy of information disseminated. Maintains substantial knowledge of university and divisional policies and procedures related to the acquisition and use of data, the use and application of constituent databases (currently Ellucian Advance) in a fundraising environment, as well as university policies and procedures and state and federal regulations related to fundraising and accepted business practices. Uses exceptional analytical skills, excellent composition, grammar, and editing skills, and various database and software tools necessary to accomplish assigned tasks. High-level analytical duties require independence, sound judgment, and creativity. Must be able to prioritize workload related to additional project management and analysis in the areas of fundraising. The Analyst must have strong technical and communication skills to interface with department staff ranging from administrative assistants to high-level technical programming and database administrators. The Analyst will be privy to sensitive materials and information; therefore, the position requires the utmost degree of confidentiality. #LI-KA1 Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience & training
- 4-6 years of experience demonstrating strong analytic and project management skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
- 4-6 years of experience in communicating exceptionally well through verbal and written mediums, paying close attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in reporting as well as management of key processes
- 1-3 years Demonstrated expertise in writing, including excellent grammar, composition and proof-reading skills.
- 4-6 years Demonstrated expertise in analysis, problem solving, working with detail while applying and understanding broader contexts as they affect a diverse customer base: faculty, staff, students and donors.
- Comfortable working with complex policies, programs and proposals with the ability to develop new programs or procedures for possible implementation.
- Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills that foster positive relationships with diverse populations and develop working positive relationships within the department, and cross-functional team members with the ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) suites, and demonstrated ability to quickly learn various software programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

Job Functions and Percentages of Time: 35% Strategic Planning & Project Development
- Works closely with the AVC and senior management of the Office of Development as a critical team member to assist in the creation of strategies for achieving fundraising goals.
- Provides analysis, strategic planning, and project management for university fundraising and campaign projects. Helps establish internal workflow processes focused on delivering high-quality products.
- Designs and produces reports detailing fundraising results, fundraising projections, gift pipeline, donor demographic data, etc.
- Develops fundraising initiative and campaign planning tools, reports, and presentations to accurately depict fundraising goals, progress, and outcomes. Materials include PowerPoint presentations, graphs, charts, and visual representations of fundraising progress. Determines materials to be included, researches data, and distills information into focused reports. These reports are provided to the AVC for presentation to the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, volunteer committees, other senior management, and the UC Santa Barbara Foundation Board of Trustees.
- Develops internal communications regarding various fundraising efforts, including initiatives and comprehensive campaigns, to ensure all campus participants, volunteer leadership, and constituencies have relevant information and continuous updates on progress. Develops external communications regarding various fundraising efforts, including initiatives and comprehensive campaigns, for dissemination to the campus community and the public.
- Works closely with the Office of the Chancellor, AVC and UC Santa Barbara Foundation Board of Trustees and staff to prepare materials for Board of Trustee gatherings.
45% Reports and Analysis
- Maintains an active awareness of goals, objectives, and direction of the Office of Development.
- Leads the analytics efforts to support department leadership and management in making business decisions based on data, trends, and models. Develops solutions based on business need.
- Produces descriptive/diagnostic/predictive/prescriptive analytics for actionable insights, supporting several units.
- Translates data into usable and visualized information for the entire department.
- Develops a core suite of analytics that are designed to translate data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of strategies and measures of success.
- Prepares weekly gift reports and analysis for senior management.
- Tracks overall fundraising progress. Analyzes prospect giving, prepares reports for measuring success, and recommends further action. Reports on final outcomes and compares outcomes to projections.
- Assists AVC and Senior Directors/Area Managers in fiscal year planning and strategies, and the establishment of goals for individual fundraising teams.
- Supports Gifts Administration and Advancement Services on monthly, quarterly, and yearly closure procedures and reports.
- Sets standards for fundraising analytics and reporting for the department. Provides guidance, mentors, trains, and acts as a resource to staff.
- Uses independent judgment, initiative, problem-solving, and analytical skills to perform high-level functions including data extraction, manipulation, and interpretation.
20% Special Projects
- Works closely with the AVC, Development and other campus officials, to identify and analyze fundraising needs for campus projects (such as buildings, endowed chairs, etc.). Develops reports such as tracking of campus "named spaces." Reports identify funding progress, project details (funding sources, projected fundraising, number of buildings, number of labs, etc.), future needs and opportunities for giving. Analyzes priorities for fundraising by targeting trends, similarities and unique characteristics between colleges and departments.
- Acts as liaison between Development and many other campus departments such as Facilities Management (AVC) and Budget & Planning (Capital Development) to track campus building projects and the fundraising priorities associated with those capital projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
