The Graphic Designer oversees the design and development of presentations, graphics, and other types of media-based materials consistent with marketing and communications initiatives. Responsible for translating organizational or client goals into strategic media deliverables that reinforce the FGCU brand to internal and external audiences.

Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Creates high quality design materials, including social media posts and graphics, newsletters, handouts, and brochures, targeting both university and local communities.
- Manages the design and development of graphic materials that support the University Library's marketing and communications initiatives.
- Provides creative leadership in generating original ideas for graphic design projects that achieve strategic goals and ensures that the designs follow the correct branding.
- Oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of design projects, adhering to established timelines and budget constraints.
- Writes engaging and informative content for various communication channels.
- Oversees student designers, providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship to support their professional development and ensure production of high-quality work.
- Collaborates with other library departments and university stakeholders on cross-functional projects and initiatives to promote library services and resources.
- Develops, presents and gains approval on scope, content and budget for graphic design projects.
- Communicates artistic themes in flyers, posters, advertising, handbooks, or other presentation mediums.
- Build and maintain project management skills to set schedules and determine workload allocation.
- Maintains files and records of graphic designs; ensures the timely completion of all work presented to the graphics unit.
- Develops new techniques, systems, and procedures to enhance the marketing efforts of the university.
- Reviews progress, evaluates results, implements new processes, and promotes best practices.
- Stays informed about emerging trends and best practices in graphic design and marketing.

Additional Job Description Required Qualifications
- This position requires either five years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, fine arts, or a related field and one years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Professional full-time experience in graphic design.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite programs software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in special effects, animation and motion graphics.
- Experience producing video for web and social media.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
- Knowledge of marketing strategies and communication principles.
- Knowledge and ability to recognize and implement graphic design, branding, and marketing principles.
- Knowledge of responsive web design, image optimization and scaling for web marketing and teaching tools.

- Knowledge and proficiency in use of publishing and design software.
