We are looking for a Maintenance Planning Manager to join our team in Axis, AL.

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Planning Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance activities to ensure the efficient operation of our facilities and equipment. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning abilities, and a thorough understanding of maintenance processes.

Maintenance Planning Manager Job Responsibilities



  • Enforce and monitor compliance with maintenance schedules, preventive maintenance standards and maintenance programs for stationary and mobile heavy equipment.
  • Ensure safety standards are met for all equipment within area of responsibility. This area of responsibility will include sites in Alabama, and Georgia.
  • The selected candidate will be headquartered out of the Axis, Al site and will be expected to travel and help other sites located in Alabama and Georgia.
  • Identify needs and provide training for site maintenance personnel to insure Corporate and manufacturers maintenance standards are properly implemented and maintained for equipment at site.
  • Approve utilization and placement of all equipment for site. Maintain records for all site equipment.
  • Compile justification for replacement versus repair of capital equipment within area.
  • Analyze utilizing the computerized Maintenance Management and other information maintenance activities and costs for each piece of equipment and recommend necessary corrective action. Insure that all maintenance records are properly recorded in the computerized Maintenance Management system.
  • Assist in preparation and justification of budgets and establishing priorities for maintenance and capital projects.
  • Assist in preparation and justification of capital projects.
  • Support Area General Manager on any special maintenance project requests or start-ups.
  • Monitor performance of site maintenance personnel and recommend corrective action to sub-par performers or commendation for above-average performers, both hourly and salaried. This includes conducting the Site Maintenance audits.
  • Assist in the development of corporate maintenance and operating standards, by seeking and investigating new maintenance procedures and practices and presenting them for peer review.


Maintenance Planning Manager Job Qualifications



  • Ideal candidate must have strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic background
  • Candidate must be able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Preference will be given to BA/BS degree as well as a combination of experience/education.
  • Preference will be given for 7+ years of experience within the scrap/metal industry, or with off-highway heavy equipment.
  • The candidate must also have the ability to function both effectively and independently as a member of a cross-functional team demonstrating teamwork and communication skills with a commitment to cooperation and collaboration among business functions.
  • They will be proficient with Microsoft Office software including PowerPoint, Excel and Word as well as ERP software.
  • Candidate will have strong oral and written skills, good statistical analysis skills, will be market research orientated, and demonstrate strong knowledge of the scrap recycling industry and all equipment used.

The job centers around developing new ideas, systems and technology, and also analyzing and improving on old ones. A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to spot and correct errors is important. Work must be done right and quickly, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal and demanding the highest quality work from co-workers and subordinates. Interest and energy focuses primarily on the work at hand, with negligible inclination for small talk or social involvement. The broad scope of the job demands a factual, direct and authoritative style of communication. Decision-making, though swift, is very calculated and singular, with little reliance on consensus or collaborating opinions. *
