Position Summary

The Director of Electric Distribution Construction Management & Governance is responsible for leading a diverse set of functions in support of Electric Operations. Support functions include training, compliance, quality control/assurance, work and resource planning, contract management, work methods and procedures, and business analytics and process improvement. The Director partners with peer directors and officers to develop strategies, policies and standards to ensure achievement of business objectives for a safe and reliable system. The incumbent promotes and adheres to all company and regulatory safety policies, practices and guidelines.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Reports into the Interim Lead, Construction Management

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategic and tactical plans. Regularly compiles and presents executive level updates and status summaries regarding performance of department projects, goals and initiatives. Identifies and addresses deficiencies, developing solutions and collaborating with Vice President and/or peers on solution evaluation and implementations. Routinely interacts with other business partners and develops extensive working relationships across all lines of business, to ensure overall business needs are being met. Proactively brings ideas, solutions, and alternatives to business partners for technical issues and challenges.
  • Partners with Manager, Contract Management to develop strategies. Oversees, leads and ensures successful implementation and monitoring of contracting activities, contract administration and field oversight, quality control, contract negotiation, as well as contractor performance. Partners with sourcing on contract strategy and administration. Ensures annual contract work plan, and budgets are on track.
  • Guides the management of the work methods and procedures design, development and coordination. Ensures that staff is effectively researching, analyzing and reviewing issues and needs of the Field and developing solutions and improvements in the areas of procedures, practices, methods and tools to promote increased safety and reliability.
  • Guides the execution of compliance activities regulatory requirements. Collaborates with Substation, T-Line and Grid Operations peer leaders in reviewing compliance performance metrics and addressing issues. Ensures that the compliance objectives and activities align with regulatory requirements, best practices and the overall Electric Operations goals.
  • Oversees, reviews and consults on work plan development, resource management and scheduling, tracking plan progress and program management for internally generated maintenance and construction work. Reviews and advises on significant resource re-allocations as needed to meet the master work plan. Ensures complete and accurate modeling, forecasting and analysis of annual and longer-term work and resource plans. Leads reviews and decisions for optimal allocation of work and resources between in-house and outside (contractor) work crews. Partners with leaders, Strategic Business Management and Asset Management on long term work and resource planning strategy.
  • Directs the development of overall metrics which cascade through all departments to fully align goals and objectives. Provides information, advice and counsel to leaders on a regular basis. Monitors operational performance. Drives the development and implementation of analytical techniques to gain insights on operational results.
  • Manages large, annual operating and capital expense budgets. Develops financial and staffing plans for each function of the department. Provides ultimate accountability for ensuring that the department safety programs and improvement plans are well designed and executed. Leads the implementation of new tools, procedures and equipment to improve safety and execution
  • Leads department to accomplish objectives through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and rewards and recognition.
  • Direct and indirect reports include managers, superintendents, supervisors, analysts and specialists.

Compensation

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $167,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $284,000.00

Or

California Minimum: $159,000.00

California Maximum: $270,000.00

Background Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction Management, or Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience.

Desired

  • Master's Degree, MBA, or other advanced degree
  • Desired experience in Strategic Planning, contract management, exposure to work plan and resource management, exposure to electric operations compliance requirements and quality control, and exposure to other relevant electric utility operations field work.
